The Heath Family Multi-Academy Trust, The Heath Teaching School and it’s wider alliance work together to provide an extensive and dedicated service to school-to-school improvement.

Nell qualified as a teacher of English and History in 1972 and has held many teaching and leadership roles since then, including 2 providing local authority Link Adviser support and challenge to schools. She was appointed equalities adviser and project manager for the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority in 2007 and supported the implementation of the primary curriculum and the KS3 curriculum during that time.

She has been an SEN Co-ordinator in 3 mainstream secondary schools, and in one of these, the SENCO role was combined with a senior role, leading on the quality of teaching and learning. She was Principal of a federation of 4 ESMH schools and she, and the Headteachers she appointed, took 2 of the schools out of a category of concern.

Most recently, she has supported and challenged schools as a School Improvement Partner for several local authorities.  She has been National Challenge Adviser for 5 schools, and a lead inspector of mainstream and special schools, and pupil referral units. She is also a specialist Education Adviser for the Department for Education.
